METS: because Transpotec is also a “celebration”

On Saturday and Sunday over 200 different vehicles will feature in Largo Nazioni Ovest, the large outdoor area overlooked by the exhibition pavilions. METS-Milano European Truck Show, organised by Truck Look, is geared up to bring a touch of colour to the Transpotec weekend with an unparalleled rally of people who are passionate about their vehicles, but also about technology and safety.

Airbrushed exteriors, leather interiors and premium materials as well as innovative driver assistance systems and cabs connected to services that can be managed via voice control through Alexa and Google: METS will give visitors a chance to discover the best of on-board customisation and technological innovation in the latest generation of vehicles. Mirko Zapparoli, Chairman of Truck Look, has given us some previews.

Mirko, what can we expect from METS?

“We’re bringing the best of the latest generation of Euro 6 to Milan: vehicles kitted out with technology that will give you a chance to check out the best safety equipment that can be found on board trucks. We have already confirmed more than 200 vehicles, all brand new. Very few will be from between 2015 and 2020, so METS will be a very high-tech, professional rally. In short, we’re presenting the best of what’s available on the market today, adapted to each haulier’s tastes and needs.

Transpotec is coming back to Milan with this edition. What do you and your associates think about that?

“We're delighted to be at Fiera Milano because, to us, Milan is Italy’s transport capital. There’s no denying it, and while there are still some nostalgic people out there, I'm sure this edition will change their minds. In 2022, novelty beats tradition: we have to move forward, face the future. And the future is Milan.

Can you give us any previews of what’s going to be there?

“There will be lots of new ideas, even in terms of vehicle size, because this year we’ll have the giants, but we’ll also have examples of medium and small vehicles.

One major new feature is the chance to see painting done live, with new iridescent and metallic films for trimming vehicles.

Plus there is a huge focus on interiors: thanks to a new collaboration with Davisotti Interior Design, there will be premium, innovative products in leather and exquisite materials worthy of a yacht. Naturally, Duraccio, our long-established partner, will be there, but they have a different style, so visitors can check out different ways of customising their vehicles. These two styles come together at our rally, one more traditional, the other with a more northern European flavour, which is what’s new this year and tops off what we have on offer.

Plus, for the first time ever, thanks to Milan’s appeal, we’ll be taking the 3F Discio Truck with us, with its stainless-steel customisations and advanced aesthetic set-up, and Gabry Garage, which will offer new Nordic style paints.

And here’s a little tip: there’s going to be a special vehicle, which I don’t want to say too much about, in iridescent sea green paint that changes colour.

And of course, as always, there’s space for fun, for meeting people, for being together and for talking about the beauty of our work, but also about the challenges to be faced. See you in Milan!”
