When digital drives logistics

Increasingly powerful and innovative, digital fleet management systems are simplifying operations and offering new opportunities to operators. Some of the exhibitors have told us what they will be bringing to the show.

Innovative, integrated, sustainable. Fleet management systems, of which Transpotec Logitec will offer an important technological showcase, are ensuring ever greater economic sustainability, but also greater safety and efficiency, and are pushing the sector towards a complete digitalisation of the supply chain.

Among the functions expressed by these systems are, for example, the ability to identify the position of the load or vehicle at any time along the established route, monitor driving style, analyse routes and optimise travel costs. These solutions are often tailor-made for transport companies of all sizes and equipped with algorithms capable of producing statistics and forecasts to improve transport performance and support the haulier’s work.

These solutions are aimed at a broad audience of hauliers, owner-operators, fleet managers of all sizes and logistics managers and will be presented by various manufacturers and distributors at Transpotec Logitec.

These tools can help manage maintenance more efficiently, but also "educate" the haulier to more sustainable driving.

One example is the Jaltest Telematics solution, marketed in Italy by Keep in Touch, which, by defining an innovative concept in the road transport sector, combines vehicle telematic management with multi-brand remote diagnostics.

Thanks to the implementation of a machine learning model, the tool makes it possible to estimate the useful life of systems or components and the conditions of use and the history of maintenance operations from a predictive perspective.

Remote diagnostics sessions can also be used to process data from the vehicle and its working environment in order to prevent breakdowns before they occur.

The platform also provides detailed information on key driving parameters, such as inertia utilisation, engine speed, fuel consumption, braking and speed, with the dual aim of helping reduce fuel consumption and environmental pollution and keeping the vehicle in good condition through efficient driving.

Solutions are often dynamic and develop according to the needs of carriers, involve platforms already on the market with constant upgrades.

This is the case for Masternaut Michelin Group (TRK), which will present the new features available on the CONNECT telematic platform at Transpotec Logitec.

First up is the new Cold Wireless cold chain management solution designed to be adapted to both simple and complex environments and capable of managing up to 10 wireless probes installed.

Then, an alert system, the new Maintenance Module, was introduced to the fleet manager. This system allows for a better and proactive management of maintenance and to take measures to reduce costs and optimise fleet repair.

Finally, MoveElectric is a fleet energy transition management solution that uses data collected by the company’s devices installed on vehicles. Its aim is to identify routes that can be covered by electric vehicles instead of thermal vehicles. Real-time comparisons between thermal and electric models make it possible to define the most suitable zero-emission vehicles, while also assessing the reduction in CO2 emissions and the resulting savings.

Connectivity and the digitalisation of processes are the fundamental elements on which Transport Management Solutions is also based. This is the product that Viasat will bring to Transpotec, aimed at large and small fleets of vans, simple and articulated trucks and work vehicles.

Thanks to the www.runtrackers.net web platform, in just a few simple steps and in real time, it is possible to have full control over all fleet logistics activities, produce reports to analyse delivery performance, fuel consumption and driving style, as well as track the location of goods and vehicles. Customers receive assistance from the 24/7 Operations Centre to manage alarms and intervention files. Managing the tachograph also becomes simple. Downloading of data is remote and automatic; the analysis is entrusted to the www.tachigrafosemplice.cloud platform compliant with EU REG. 561/2006, which combines legal technical support.
