Many young people took part in Transpotec Logitec. This is an important message as the sector is suffering from a serious shortage of staff. The event was an opportunity to introduce the new generations to the various logistics professions.

According to Federservice, there are more than 400,000 drivers who have not renewed their driver’s qualification card between 2019 and 2024, mainly those aged between 30 and 50, although unexpectedly the number of drivers under 25 is growing, increasing by around 66% since 2019. The lack of human resources has become a pressing issue for the sector, and Transpotec Logitec, which has always been very attentive to the issue of employment and new professions, has become a focal point for understanding needs and a promoter of new initiatives. And it is young people, the players of the future, who transport associations and companies need to breathe new life into the sector, with numerous meetings and events dedicated to them over the four days of the event. The event offered opportunities to promote the logistics and road transport professions and to introduce the new generations to a world that increasingly requires specialisation and offers interesting career opportunities.

Among other things, Fai Conftrasporto launched the "Manifesto for Europe" at the exhibition, in which the shortage of human resources was identified as one of the four lines of action to update European legislation on vocational training. While Anita introduced the Osservatorio Giovani Autotrasporto e Logistica (Young Road Transport and Logistics Observatory), which was set up to find practical solutions to a real emergency.

Finally, many students from higher technical education schools attended in the round table organised by Transpotec Logitec, where they discussed positive collaboration between educational institutions and companies – a practical response to market needs: a well-attended meeting, where business representatives explained the opportunities available to those who want them, and young people already in the world of work talked about their personal experiences.
