Transpotec Logitec 2024 showcased all the innovations already on the market for the world of logistics and freight transport. Many chose the event to unveil national and international premieres, underlining its role as a reference point for the sector. Decarbonisation and digitalisation objective.

The many innovations on show at Transpotec Logitec 2024 were evidence not only of the industry's desire to innovate, but also of its readiness to meet the challenges of energy transition and digitalisation that all companies are currently facing. Heavy vehicle manufacturers – with all eight truck companies in Italy present for the first time – proposed the full range of fuels, from 100% electric to biomethane and HVO. Initial hydrogen offerings were also in evidence – a green solution, but one still awaiting the development of an adequate infrastructure network. It is up to the user to choose the formula that best suits their business needs.

But it wasn’t just about vehicles. All elements contribute to the sustainability of vehicles, and innovative solutions and products were seen in all areas. Work on trailers has included lighter materials, aerodynamics, double-deck models that increase capacity by 60% and reduce CO2 emissions by 40%, and systems to store kinetic energy so that it can be reused to power temperature-controlled transport refrigeration units. Tyre updates have focused on customisation, because the right rubber increases performance and efficiency, but materials have also been introduced that are less harmful to the environment by reducing the dispersion of microparticles.

There was a strong focus on digitalisation, a cross-cutting theme throughout the event, which, thanks to the use of AI, IoT and data analytics, is now a facilitator for achieving energy transition and security goals. Digital mirrors, for example, increase visibility and eliminate blind spot problems thanks to sensors that signal the presence of obstacles that would otherwise be difficult to detect. Likewise, today’s tyre monitoring systems, which are now supplied by major tyre manufacturers, constantly monitor pressure and temperature, helping to increase road safety.

There were also many options for fleet management software and services that optimise loads, monitor vehicles in real time and check the status of the vehicle and the driver's driving quality, intervening if necessary. And for logistics companies, digitisation has resulted in systems that automate many logistics operations, leading to greater efficiency, cost savings and a better customer experience
