Fuels work together

The effort to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate the environmental impact of freight transport must flow from a joint effort between vehicle manufacturers and fuel producers. New prospects for tackling the challenge effectively are now coming into view.

Only by working together will vehicle manufacturers and fuel producers be able to meet the decarbonisation challenge. Vehicle manufacturers are working on new engines. At the same time, alternatives are being sought to the traditional fossil fuels that have dominated the transport sector for decades.

Q8 is one of the leading Italian players in the field of sustainable mobility of people and goods. Antonio Esposito, GCB Fleet Business Manager of Kuwait Petroleum Italia, explains: "At the heart of our strategy is business sustainability, which we pursue by combining care for the environment, social development and economic growth. We also aim to always be at the forefront of mobility services for the business segment, so we seek to constantly extend our offering.”

Several alternatives are being worked on. These solutions include biodiesel, biomass gasification and green hydrogen, all of which offer significant benefits in terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality.

Esposito continues: “The development of a biofuel chain is an integral part of our sustainability strategy. For this reason, in 2023 we launched our new Q8 HVO+ fuel, a unique Q8 formulation from renewably sourced biofuel that reduces CO2 emissions by up to 90 per cent over the entire life cycle."

Transpotec Logitec 2024 will offer a showcase that is representative of the latest frontiers in clean energy – but this is a challenge that is also playing out across solutions and services. Esposito concludes: “At Transpotec Logitec 2024 we want to present the two pillars of our development: offering new fuels for increasingly sustainable mobility, and the digital transformation that allows us to actively respond to the needs of customers, who are increasingly connected and focused on the user experience for products and services. Indeed, all our fuel cards are fully activatable and manageable via web and app, and the Cartissima Q8 portal also lets you monitor your CO2 emissions.”
